Based on the latest version of the sixth generation Mustang, the GT500 is the most extreme version of the muscle car to date. Even the GT350 looks smooth, especially in the front, where the opening of the grid is almost twice as large. This allows an engine 50% more airflow compared to the GT350, but also for design purposes. This makes the GT500 very aggressive, because it is about swallowing everything that is on the way.
The upper grille is flanked by Mustang headlights, while the center insert is flanked by slightly larger rectangular fog lights. The side openings are also larger, as a separator below. Unique feature, the significantly wider front flaps extend towards the fascia and wrap around the headlights and lower side diffusers. This adds to the appearance of the menacing GT500.

Inside the GT500 is not very different from the GT350. Sure, it has some unique features, but it has hardly changed.

Rumors claim that the coupe will have a rated power of 755 horsepower, which will place it above the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, with a power of 707 and 650 horsepower, respectively. But whatever its maximum power, the power of more than 700 horsepower makes the GT500 the most powerful Ford ever designed for the street.
On the output side, the GT500 features many technologies introduced for the first time in the GT supercar and the Mustang GT4 race car. The highlights include lighter cylinder liners, aluminum heads and larger forged rods. The GT500 also uses a structural oil pan that adds strength and reduces vibration. It also incorporates a patented active baffle system that keeps the oil where it is needed in the engine. The transmission shaft is made of carbon fiber.
To maintain the intake air cooler and create a lower center of gravity, Ford used an inverted displacement compressor with air intercooler, which is a radical departure from the previous GT500.
It is designed for a number of driving modes, including normal, weather, sports, drag and drop, and activates features such as line lock and start control through the Track application. There is no option for a manual gearbox, but Ford presumes that the double clutch goes in less than 100 milliseconds faster than any manual on the market.

But how fast is the new GT500? Unfortunately, Ford has not yet published these numbers, but promises a sprint of half to three seconds from 0 to 60 mph. This can take from 3.4 to 3.6 seconds, but it will probably be the lowest number. The GT500 of the previous generation took 3.5 seconds to get there, and it is natural to think that the new muscle car will be faster than ten seconds. If true, the GT500 will be ten times faster than the Camaro ZL1, but ten times slower than the SRT Hellcat Challenger.
Ford also promises a quarter of a mile in less than 11 seconds, which makes sense since the old GT500 needed only 11 seconds to cross the finish line. Thanks to this benchmark, the GT500 is at least half a second faster than the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and at least three tenths faster than the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
Ford says that the new GT500 offers the best track times for a Mustang and the best turn of all national sports coupes, which is very impressive, considering that the GT350R is a car that is already powerful. However, there are no figures to support this claim, so we will have to wait for the evidence. Maybe Ford will soon unveil a recording attempt at the Nurburgring.

Ford took advantage of the lessons learned from the GT and Mustang GT4 programs to prepare the GT500 for track driving. It features a revised suspension geometry with lighter coil springs and a new generation MagneRide active system. A new electronic power steering unit improves agility at high speeds, while Pilot Sport Cup 2 custom tires offer additional grip. As an option, you can use the Sport Sport 2 more aggressive rubber with a unique compound and tread.
The rotors have a two-piece design, while the stirrups are stiffer than normal. These also have a sweep area 20% larger than the Shelby GT350, which provides more than 30% of the additional thermal mass.
The front discs of the GT500 are the largest American sports coupes.
